Westwood UMC offers a singing opportunity for everyone – from pre-school on up. We believe that all Christians are called to offer praise to God. By singing in a choir we blend our own talents with others and in the process become part of something larger that honors our Lord and inspires others. There is a place for you!
Rehearsals: Thursdays (7:30-9:30pm) Choir Room
As WUMC’s principal choir, the Chancel Choir leads worship weekly September through June. The widely varied repertoire is selected from music of our time, from the Church’s rich musical tradition and from other cultures. Everyone is welcome regardless of previous experience.
Rehearsals: Sundays (11-11:30am) Room 109
The Hallelujah Youth Choir is built around the talents and interests of its members and has plans to participate in worship at least once a month. If you are an instrumentalist, there is also a place for you. More joint anthems with other choirs, and presenting more anthems with different instruments are planned. All youth are welcome to help make a joyful noise.
Rehearsals: Sundays (11:30am-12noon) Room 109
Everybody is encouraged to join in making a joyful noise! An extension of the church’s task of Christian Education, children learn more about their faith through singing together and preparing to sing in worship.
Rehearsals: Sundays (11:20am) Handbell Room
The Tintinnabulators is an English handbell choir that is open to anyone from 8th grade on up. All abilities – from beginners to advanced – are welcome. Being able to read music is helpful but not necessary to start ringing. We will be happy to show you how to ring – even if you have never rung handbells before.
To express interest in any of the choirs, contact Stephen Gothold at 310.474.4511 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
