In John’s gospel, Jesus begins his ministry with a series of miraculous signs, like turning water into wine, multiplying a few loaves and fishes into a feast for thousands. These miracles communicate something important about the good news that Jesus brings. But Jesus is also talking about something more–more than food, more than drink. As he describes the bread of life, he invites us to use our imaginations to join him in envisioning something even more. This generous invitation connects us together, in a life of divine love.
