We begin our “Good Enough” Lent with a beautiful reminder: there is incredible holiness in everyday, ordinary life. Like most every year on the first Sunday of Lent, our scripture readings remind us of Jesus’ temptations in the wilderness. Led there by the Holy Spirit, full of the Holy Spirit, he is tempted by offers of security and power that would be a fast-pass to the top. Jesus resists. And we humans, stuck in the everyday messes and losses as we are, get the good news that holiness wasn’t ever about getting to the top, anyhow.
