Our current social and political climate tacitly encourages us to distance ourselves from people whom we disagree with. This climate has enabled a culture of theological polarization and malformed understanding of what it means to be a part of “the body of Christ.” However, what we see in this letter to the Philippians is not only an encouragement to remain in relationship but also a reminder that it is only through relationships that we can find peace that passes understanding.
