Sundays at 9:30am
We draw from the best of our Christian tradition in worship in our beautiful sanctuary, where thoughtful preaching, inspiring music, welcoming liturgy, and resounding organ connect us to God’s grace.
Our worship life draws from the deep wells of sacred music traditions, the artistic vision of the sanctuary art, and the poetry of prayer and liturgy. We follow the seasons of the liturgical year, and celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Our vestments and candles show reverence to God, and remind us that we are all holy, too; we invite everyone to participate in our sacraments, our singing, and our prayer.

Sanctuary Music is for Everyone
Westwood UMC offers a singing opportunity for everyone – from pre-school on up. We believe that all Christians are called to offer praise to God. By singing in a choir we blend our own talents with others and in the process become part of something larger that honors our Lord and inspires others. There is a place for you!

Chancel Choir
As WUMC’s principal choir, the Chancel Choir leads worship weekly September through June. The widely varied repertoire is selected from music of our time, from the Church’s rich musical tradition and from other cultures. Everyone is welcome regardless of previous experience. Regular rehearsals are Thursdays (7:30-9:30pm) in the Choir Room.

Summer/Winter Choir
During winter break and over the summer, there are fresh opportunities for folks to join the choir. Don’t read music? That’s okay! These seasonal choirs meet on Sunday mornings at 9 to learn a simple anthem that they then sing in the 9:30am gathering that day.
To express interest in any of the choirs, contact Dr. Andrew Schultz at 310.474.4511 or click here to email.

Shaffer Memorial Organ
Our Sanctuary’s Shaffer Memorial Organ is one of the largest organ installations in Southern California and crowned Charles Shaffer’s lifelong commitment to the Church and its music. In addition to Sunday worship, we are pleased to host Summer Organ Concerts that feature this incredible instrument.
