“Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.” Jesus offers words of confidence, and invitation to the disciples, when they feel fear and uncertainty at his presence, walking toward them on the surface of the sea. He gives assurance, and affirms his identity as the “I am.” In the midst of our present fears and uncertainties, these words continue to offer hope.
