I repeat this every week in worship: we believe that the diversity of people who gather as the body of Christ is a gift. I affirm and celebrate diversities of age and race, gender identity and sexual orientation. I also affirm diversities of gifts that we have to contribute to the work of the church; our differences strengthen and deepen our ability to live into the fullness of the call of the gospel to justice and love. This week, we read Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians that lay out this case for the richness found in our varieties of gifts.
