We continue our Advent scriptures with an account of an angel who appeared to Joseph. Repeating the familiar refrain, “Do not be afraid,” the angel helps Joseph make the difficult and holy choice to stay with Mary, who will bear a child, for the salvation of the world. This is one of the ways God continues to work through us today – inviting us to make the more difficult and holy choices that allow us to choose belonging, for the sake of divine love and justice.
