Welcome to Westwood

Our Mission: Westwood Church is a Christian community that welcomes all people and focuses on becoming disciples committed to justice, kindness and walking humbly with God.
.
Our Vision: Westwood Church is an inclusive, vibrant, engaged church making a positive difference in our congregation and in our community.
.
Our Values: We welcome and affirm our ministry for all persons, regardless of age race, ethnic origin, economic status, ability, gender, marital status or sexual orientation.
.
We seek to understand God’s will and bear witness to Christ’s compassion and the movement of the Holy Spirit
.
We seek to foster spiritual growth in all persons
.
We seek to participate in ministries of justice and mercy at home and in the global community.
.
All ministries of Westwood Church are available to All people.
.
A Reconciling Church: We, the faith community of Westwood Church, affirm that a God-filled perspective understands and embraces diversity and radical inclusivity; for that reason we embrace and affirm the full inclusion of everyone regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We explicitly welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people who have been marginalized and diminished within the larger United Methodist tradition.
.
We commit to embracing the responsibility of pushing for a more open and inclusive United Methodist Church.
.
You are welcome here. You are supported here. You are included here.

1. Join us at one of our two unique gatherings on Sunday at 10am. The Sanctuary is a sacred gathering with traditional liturgy, a thoughtful message, and resounding organ, while The Loft is an innovative gathering with spiritual conversation, creativity, coffee, and music for those willing to re-think church. Click here for a map.

.

Every Sunday, we offer a dynamic Children’s Church for birth-5th graders. Click here to learn more.

2. Stop by the Welcome Table. When you attend a Sunday gathering, we invite you to fill out Connection Card and drop it off at the Welcome Table where you can pick up a bag of gourmet coffee as our gift to you.

3. Sign up for the Welcome Breakfast. On the 3rd Sunday of each month (9-9:30am), Pastor Molly Vetter hosts a breakfast in Cafe W. This is an excellent opportunity for you and your family (children are welcome) to hear about the vision of the church, ask questions, and meet new people. Breakfast is on us! Sign up at the Welcome Table for the next scheduled breakfast or contact Sabrina at 310.474.4511 or sabrina@westwoodumc.org.

4. Check out Follow Up on Sundays at 11:30am. After The Sanctuary or The Loft, grab a cup of coffee and join us for Follow-Up. This weekly class is taught by a variety of informative speakers focused on a different topic each week. Four times a year, we invite noted authors or speakers to join us for a special session, and other weeks are taught by our knowledgeable staff and leaders. Check the Sunday Worship Guide for the location, which is usually in Wesley Room or the Fellowship Hall.
