Christmas at Westwood

“Love arrives, as Christ is born into our world.”

.

This Christmas, we invite you to celebrate the arrival of Love by joining us for an online Christmas concert, a virtual Posada shopping for loved ones, and worshipping on Christmas Eve.

CHRISTMAS EVE WORSHIP

Thursday, December 24th via Facebook
.
5pm – Children’s Pageant and Candlelight Worship – watch hereworship guide
See the Christmas Story in a fresh way, as our children and their families help retell it in “Do Not Be Afraid,” a virtual pageant especially made for 2020. With music from our young people, our Sanctuary musicians and The Loft Band, we invite you to listen and sing along as we worship together on Christmas Eve; hear a message of love from Pastor Molly Vetter. Light candles with us from home as we sing Silent Night and celebrate love’s arrival.
.
Just after, we invite you to log onto Zoom to share in 20 minutes of Virtual Candlelight & Cocoa. Make yourself a cup of cocoa or tea (or whatever you like to drink in the evening), and log on to see and share the candles you lit during worship. Wish each other a Merry Christmas as we log on, and then enjoy a few minutes to connect with others in a small breakout group. Find the link in our weekly e-news! Sign up to receive our e-news here.
.
Note: Our 5pm Children’s Pageant and Candlelight Worship service will also be available to watch anytime afterwards!

8pm – Christmas Eve Carols and Candlelight – watch hereworship guide
Experience the holy mystery of Christmas as we share the good news of Christ’s birth through music, scripture, prayer, preaching and candlelight. Featuring beautiful music from our Sanctuary musicians, you are invite to participate along with us from home, singing beloved carols and sharing in candlelight as we sing “Silent Night” together. Our livestream will start approximately 20 minutes early, with an extended prelude featuring harp and organ music.
.
Just after, we invite you to log onto Zoom to share in 20 minutes of Virtual Candlelight & Dessert. Get out whatever Christmas treat you enjoy best, and log on to see and share in some Christmas Eve community. Note: Our 8pm Christmas Eve Carols and Candlelight Worship service will also be available to watch anytime afterwards.

OUTDOOR PRAYER STATIONS: LOVE ARRIVES

.

You are invited to visit our outdoor “Love Arrives” Advent prayer stations anytime between now and Christmas. The prayer stations feature photographic images by Paul Jeffrey, missionary photojournalist. The stations feature mothers and children in our contemporary world as icons for the Madonna and Child; they invite us to reflect on the advent gifts of hope, peace, joy and love as invitations that make a difference in our lives and world, today.
.
The prayer stations face Wilshire Blvd, and are accessible to the public from the sidewalk; if you are driving to visit, our parking structure is available and they are also close to street parking along Warner Avenue. There is plenty of space to maintain at least a 6′ distance from others as you stand at these stations. And don’t forget to wear your mask!

ANGEL PHOTO SPOT

.
Stop by our church campus and take your photo with the angel wings hanging on the doors to the Helms Hall building, near the corner of Warner and Wilshire!

We hope you will share your images on social media–if you tag the church before Monday, December 14th, we’ll include your image in a slideshow during our online Christmas Eve services. #westwoodumcangelwings
